[ About: Designer | Process ]
THE CONSULTATION - The first part of the Made-to-Order process is the consultation. This is an introductory meeting with the designer where you express your ideas on your ideal wedding gown. You may bring photo’s , pictures from magazines or anything that will help to illustrate what you think you like. At this time the designer will get a feel for who you are and make suggestions on what will best compliment your body type. (It is also okay if you have no idea of what you want, the designer will guide you.)

THE SKETCHES - The second step of the Made-to-Order process is the sketch review. After consulting with you (the bride to be), the designer then takes the ideas you have given him, plus his own interpretations of your needs, combines them, and presents you with a series of sketches. You then choose what your favorites are, discuss any changes or additions with the designer, and then select the final design.

THE CONTRACT/DEPOSIT -The third step in the Made-to-Order process is the contract and the deposit. After you have selected your final sketch and reviewed all details with the designer, you will be required to read and sign the client contract. The client contract is an agreement that meets both the financial and scheduling obligations needed to complete your garment. It gives you a breakdown of costs and a structured payment plan of when and how your garment will be completed, and under what conditions. I require a 1/3 deposit to begin work on your garment. After which you may pay your balance in increments at will, but please note the final balance is due 4 weeks (1 month) prior to your event date. [ view sample contract ]

MEASUREMENTS AND PHOTOS - The fourth step in the Made-to-Order process is measurements and photos. Here the designer will take precise measurements of every part of your body. It is advised that you bring a leotard or bathing suit to be photographed in.(the purpose of this is to have an accurate body image of you, so when you are not present, the designer can work from this photo to create your garment. Here he can view all areas( even the ones you want to hide) and determine what needs more emphasis, and what needs less. All in the name of making a perfect fitting garment.

|
| THE MUSLIN FITTING - The fifth step in the made-to-order-process is the muslin fitting. This is where your garment is made up in a “mock fabric” designers call muslin (100% unbleached cotton). The muslin is used to make a pattern. Your garment will be made up in muslin for you to try on prior to cutting the actual fabric. This is where all of the adjustments and corrections are made. You will be able to see exactly how your garment will fit, before the real fabric is cut.

|
THE FABRIC FITTING -The sixth and final step is the fabric fitting. Here you will be able to try on your actual garment in the correct fabric, with all the correct trims and details. The designer will ask if you want any further adjustments, and then proceed to complete your garment.
